Ready, Set, VOTE! Yard Signs

Make Your Own Sign – We’ve Made It Easy!

Yard signs are a simple, visible way to point your neighbors toward accurate voting information right when they need it. Our Ready Set Vote design lets you add your own QR code linking to whatever voting resources matter most in your community, helping make sure your neighbors have what they need to vote in the midterm elections. Follow the steps below to customize, print, and build your own weatherproof sign to display in your yard.

HOW TO MAKE YOURS

  • Click on the download button to open the Ready Set Vote design file.

  • Look for the Remix button on the design and click it. This creates your own personal copy that you can freely edit – our original stays untouched. If you don’t already have an Adobe account, you’ll likely be prompted to create one at this point (it’s free).

  • In your version, click on the QR code image, then upload an image file of your own QR code – one that links to a helpful voting resource, like checking ID requirements, early voting or mail-in ballot requests, or finding a polling location.

  • Once you’re done, click the big Download button at the top right of the screen. In the window that pops up, under File Format, choose “PDF (Best for Printing)” and don’t change any of the other settings. Then click Download at the bottom of that window.

  • Print two copies of the PDF on 11×17 paper – one for each side of the sign.

  • Color in both printouts to your liking.

  • Using double stick tape, attach one colored printout to each side of the poster board so the sign reads correctly from both directions. We used a 11.7″x16.5″ poster board in our video and had to trim the sides of our printed sheets slightly to fit. If need be, you can do the same, but be sure you aren’t trimming any of the design off.

  • Cover the whole thing in plastic to keep out water and moisture – we used a 12×16 sealable plastic bag in our video.

Whatever you use, seal any openings with packing tape so nothing can seep in.

  • Attach 2 pointed wood dowels (or similar stakes) to the edges with packing tape – apply tape at the bottom, middle, and top for a secure hold. Then place the finished sign in an accessible spot in your yard where people can easily scan the QR code.
