A Statewide Art & Civic Engagement Initiative

We The People of Ohio

See U Next 2sday has partnered with Seattle’s Backbone Campaign to bring a monumental hand-painted “We The People” Constitution scroll on a statewide tour of Ohio — and we want you to be part of it.

Starting April 11, the scroll is coming to Cleveland, Springfield, Dayton, Marietta, Columbus, Cuyahoga Falls, Akron, Toledo, Youngstown, Gambier, and more communities across the state. This living artwork already carries the signatures and messages of thousands of people from across the country.

Now it’s Ohio’s turn to add its voice.

At each stop, community members are invited to sign the scroll and leave their mark on a piece of American civic history. All sections from around the nation will come together for a culminating display in Washington, D.C. on July 4th.

Artwork created by Backbone Campaign

Project Overview

The centerpiece of this project is a giant “We The People” Constitution Preamble artwork created by Backbone Campaign. It is both a stunning visual and a participatory experience: community members sign the scroll with oversized feather markers, adding their names as a visible commitment to democratic values and civic participation.

The signature section has already grown hundreds of feet long across the country — and Ohio will contribute to that growing national testament.

Why This Matters Now

Democracy is strongest when people see themselves reflected in it.

“We The People” is not abstract — it is a call to participation.

This project offers Ohioans a chance to visibly affirm their role in shaping our shared future.

The Power of Art

The scroll can serve as a powerful backdrop for rallies and community gatherings. It can also travel with a march or pop-up civic action in public space.

With extensions, the artwork can expand to over 150 feet in length. When not extended, it folds into a suitcase for transport — making it surprisingly mobile for a monumental piece of art.

This makes it adaptable for large festivals, intimate educational events, college campuses, Pride celebrations, and more.
